This is me

Hello, I'm Evelyn!

I am a sustainability and climate education specialist with over 15 years' experience working on national and international projects. I am passionate about creating transformative learning experiences that connect science, education and action to create a fairer and more sustainable future.

Throughout my career, I have collaborated with NGOs, foundations, institutes, and global networks to design and facilitate programmes engaging educators, young people, activists, and decision-makers. My mission is to translate the complexities of climate change and sustainability into engaging, creative, and effective teaching methods.

What I do:

  • I design and facilitate training programmes for educators, activists and young people on sustainability, climate change and social innovation.
  • I develop methodologies and educational resources that transform complex content into interactive and meaningful learning experiences.
  • I support organisations in planning, implementing and evaluating climate and sustainability education projects.
  • I empower young and female leaders by promoting their participation in decision-making processes.

Highlights of my experience:

  • Malala Fund (Global): Design and facilitation of the Girl Programme Fellowship, training young leaders to work on girls' education and climate justice in seven countries in the Global South.
  • Instituto Akorde (Brazil): Designing training programmes for activists and, more recently, designing an educational project to train Technical Sales Representatives (RTVs) in the Brazilian livestock sector in strategies for reducing methane emissions.
  • Climate-KIC (Portugal and the Netherlands): Training teachers in Portugal to implement innovative methodologies on sustainability and moderating a circular economy platform.
  • Viração Educomunicação (Brazil): Coordination and training of youth delegations to serve as educommunicators at the UN Climate Conferences (COPs from 2012 to 2016).

My approach:
I believe that educating people about the sustainability and climate challenges of this century requires more than just conveying information; it involves provoking changes in perspective and creating participatory learning spaces. In my projects, I combine active methodologies, critical education and systemic thinking to help schools, NGOs and organisations develop sustainable and inclusive solutions.

Let's work together!

Testimonials

“Having Evelyn as a facilitator in my Malala Fund Girl Programme Fellowship was an inspiring and eye-opening experience. She created an engaging space for learning and particularly helped me clearly see how the impacts of climate change and gender inequality intersect in our communities. Her clarity, empathy, and passion not only made complex ideas easy to understand and deeply impactful but also encouraged me to take actionable steps in my own work for my community.” (Dr. Ayesha Kareem, Malala Fund Fellow - Cohort 1)

“I had the opportunity to partner with Evelyn in organising and running a training course to empower young climate leaders in the parish of Carnide, Lisbon. We brought together around 30 participants, who were able to co-create innovative projects aimed at improving the management of the Carnide Parish Council in key areas such as transport, waste, energy efficiency and urban agriculture. It was a great experience to count on her dedication and knowledge, both in organising the training and in the discussions and activities carried out with the young people." (Felipe Augusto Hoeflich Damaso de Oliveira, Vice-President of Youth Climate Leaders – Portugal)

“Evelyn has always stood out as a research journalist, environmental educator, and climate activist, combining academic rigour, methodological creativity, and ethical commitment to socio-environmental causes. Her work combines research, practice, and political advocacy, always guided by a perspective of social and climate justice.” (Paulo Lima, Executive Director, Viração Educomunicação)

“Our experience with Evelyn has been nothing short of inspiring. Her ideas and guidance shaped innovative formats that empower children and youth in climate action. Her dedication and enthusiasm makes her a true driving force in our mission for climate justice.” (Anne Koch, Empowerment Team, Plant-for-the-Planet)

“Evelyn closely followed all the recent changes at Akorde Institute, and both the organisation and the team have grown significantly with her support and partnership over more than a decade. Her extensive experience in organisational management, community mobilisation, innovative engagement methodologies, and building impactful educational journeys has brought more technical quality, purpose, and commitment to our projects. Evelyn has a very welcoming and generous way of working, with active listening and an enormous curiosity for quality discussions! She is extremely dedicated to the team, with a great ability to deal with different topics, always acting with autonomy, initiative, and a lot of proactivity.” (Aline Cavalcante, CEO, Akorde Institute)
